The Amaner Castle, situated on the border of Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha in the Amravati district of Maharashtra, stands as a remarkable architectural marvel. Nestled at the confluence of the Tekadivaja, Tapinadi, and Gadaga rivers, this fortress holds a unique charm. Close to the village of Bhokarabardi, along the route to Burhanpur via Amravati, it boasts a rich historical significance.
The castle, though now in ruins, once showcased formidable walls and twelve towers strategically positioned at its corners. The bastion overlooking the merging point of the Tapi and Gadaga rivers offers a breathtaking panorama. Within the castle grounds lies a sacred Shiva temple, adding a spiritual aura to its ambiance.
Historical records suggest that the fort served as a pivotal destination for the Peshwa during the Someshwar campaign of 1769. Despite the ravages of time and the scars of destruction, remnants of its grandeur continue to captivate visitors, providing glimpses into its glorious past.
